Margate Jazz Festival 2006
BIG SKY
Margate's own jazz festival took place for the second time in July 2006. Click here for details of the 2007 Festival.
" With a stunning backdrop and the support of many locals, it's great to be running this festival here again. More and more people are reminded that Margate is a lovely place by the sea in Kent. The piazza has a backdrop of the harbour, the incredible sunsets (made famous by JMW Turner) and good food at the renowned Harbour Cafe and other bars.
Once again we had a great line-up of musicians. This year, we were particularly excited to have the jazz aristocracy of John Dankworth and Cleo Laine, as well as many international artists based in the area, such as Annie Whitehead, Colin Towns, Paul Booth and Christine Tobin. What's more, most of the gigs are FREE."
