Jazz at The Progress Bar

Jazz at the Progress Bar
There are no further gigs at the Progress Bar. This page is now an epitaph to the hard work done by Christine Tobin to get the venue going, and shows the short-sightedness of the managers of the pub in not allowing her to continue. Your only regular bet for good jazz is now the Vortex. Thank God we got it restarted this year!!

"Fed up with jive asses and big corporations messing with the music? Fed up hearing about Jazz Clubs closing? We are too so we've decided to open a new kind of one. Now every Thursday you can come to JAZZ AT THE PROGRESS BAR and be excited, challenged, inspired, and invigorated by the cream of London's most creative musicians. The club will feature a monthly slot from the F-ire Collective and many artists who were associated with the Vortex." Christine Tobin, programmer and promoter.
Music starts at 8.30 p.m. Admission - £5

"The surroundings are a little more elegant, but the new Thursday night sessions at north London's Progress Bar convey much of the old Vortex Club's tantalising sense that you're a witness to something that is only going to happen this way once. "
